Robert Kuczera ( born 1973 in Oppeln) gained his Abitur (German equivalent to A-Levels) in 1993. After finishing his Civilian Service he gained a six month internship with the animation and tv production studio TEVOX GmbH, which was followed by a further year and a half there working on character animation. After that he spent a year as a freelancer, working mostly for the games studio The Light Works, in Cologne.
In October 1998 he enrolled at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in the animation faculty (Animationsinstitut) and successfully completed his studies in February 2003. During his studies he worked as a freelance animator on film and postproduction projects for various companies like Black Mountain GmbH, Stuttgart.
After that he worked at the postproduction house Framestore CFC in London on Harry potter 3 as a character animator. As well on commercials for companies like the The Mill and Smoke and Mirrors in London.
At the beginning of 2005 he started his work as a lead character animator at the company BFC in Berlin on Happily Never After and finished his job at the end of October. After that he worked on several Feature films mainly for Trixter, Munich ( “Dragon Hunters”, “Donkey Xote”, “Hui Buh”, “Loch Ness”, “Lilli the Witch”). Besides that he also worked on “Lissi und der wilde Kaiser” for Scanline.
In 2009 he animated on the feature film District 9 at Image Engine in Vancouver before he started his work as an Animation Supervior on Lilli the Witch 2 at Trixter at the end of 2009
Besides animating for commercials and feature films he also published an animation DVD called “Intuitive Animation” for Gnomon USA and was teaching at the HTW Dresden, “The principles of Animation”. Even for Alias Wavefront he did a Masterclass in Munich, “The principles of Animation”.
